Zelensky signs decree allowing military to become first Deputy Defense Minister

President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree allowing a serviceman with the rank of lieutenant general or vice admiral to be appointed to the post of first Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine.

On February 13, the President signed a decree amending the previously issued decrees on the list of positions that can be held by members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The decree also requires the Cabinet of Ministers to submit proposals to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to strengthen democratic civilian control over the security and defense sector in accordance with NATO standards.
