Russia used new bombs weighing 1.5 tons in Ukraine - Defense Express

Russian troops used new UPAB-1500V planning bombs equipped with inertial and satellite navigation systems against Ukraine.
As reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform, this is stated by Defense Express.
"For the first time, the Russian Aerospace Forces used a new weapon against Ukraine - the 1500 kg UPAB-1500V guided planning bomb," the report says.
According to the publication, the first use of this type of ammunition was recorded a few weeks ago in Chernihiv region. Defense Express learned about this from its own sources - one of the fragments had remnants of markings that correspond to the UPAB-1500V.
This bomb was first demonstrated in Russia in 2019. At the same time, it was reported that it had already been tested, put into service with the Russian Aerospace Forces and received its first export orders.
The danger of the UPAB-1500V lies in the fact that it is a gliding bomb, equipped with inertial and satellite navigation systems. The weight of the warhead is 1010 kg. Designed to hit highly protected targets, the bomb can be dropped 40 km from the target, which requires the carrier to climb to an altitude of 14 km.
