"Oscar" organizers refused to show Zelensky’s address, - Kuleba
The American Film Academy refused to show the address of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the presentation of this year’s Oscars.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said this in an interview with Bild am Sonntag, Censor.NET reports with reference to Espreso.
"I think that if the film "All Quiet on the Western Front" wins the "Oscar" for the best foreign film, and President Zelensky who leads a country waging the biggest war in Europe since the Second World War, will not be allowed to speak at the "Oscar", then you will not find a better example of the hypocrisy of top managers and producers in the film industry," said Kuleba.
According to him, when an anti-war film is celebrated with style, the horrors of the current war in Ukraine should not be ignored.
"The word 'ridiculous' is not enough to describe this hypocrisy. I'm not questioning the quality of the film. I'm just saying, people, when you're going to award a war film, drink champagne and wear pretty dresses with diamonds, but you don't want to hear the real the history of the war, which is happening here and now, something is wrong with you," Kuleba was indignant.
