Russia illegally deported 2161 Ukrainian orphans - Vereshchuk
Russia illegally transported 2,161 Ukrainian orphans to its territory, while total number of children taken from Ukraine to Russia may be about 150,000.
As informs Censor.NЕТ, this was reported by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, in an exclusive interview with Ukrainian Radio.
"When we talk about the Russian Federation, there are 2,161 Ukrainian orphans alone - those we have in the register - who were illegally taken by Russia," the official said.
According to her, these are the orphans. At the same time, the number of all Ukrainian children illegally taken to Russia, including those deported with their parents, may reach 150,000, as reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets on February 17. He clarified that there are 16,207 children officially verified by Ukraine on the territory of the aggressor state, but in reality, this number is much higher. According to Mr. Lubinets, it is approximately 150,000. Russia cites a figure of 733,000 Ukrainian children held on its territory. According to Lubinets, this figure is exaggerated.
