After saying "Glory to Ukraine!", Russians shot dead Oleksandr Matsiyevsky - SSU. PHOTOS
The Security Service of Ukraine has finally confirmed the identity of the Hero, who was shot after saying "Glory to Ukraine!".
As informs Censor.NЕТ, this is stated by press service of SSU.
The statement reads: "Security Service investigators have established that the Ukrainian soldier who was shot after saying "Glory to Ukraine!" was a sniper of the 163rd Battalion of the 119th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of Chernihiv region, Oleksandr Ihorovych Matsievskyi.
The SSU managed to finally confirm the information after a set of investigative actions, including communication with the family and comrades-in-arms of the deceased, as well as the processing of photo and video materials.
In addition, the SSU received the conclusion of a forensic portrait examination, which confirmed that the soldier in the video was Oleksandr Matsievskyi.
"He is a true Hero who, even when facing death, demonstrated to the whole world what Ukrainian character and indomitability are. Such defenders are protecting our land today, which means that the enemy will definitely be defeated. Because Ukraine's Great Victory is made up of the heroic deeds of people like Oleksandr Matsievskyi. Glory to the hero! Glory to the heroes! Glory to Ukraine!" said SSU Head Vasyl Malyuk.
The SSU Head added that the special service is working to identify the occupiers who committed this bloody crime.
"We will do everything to ensure that these non-humans are punished," emphasized Vasyl Malyuk.
Oleksandr Matsievskyi was called up for military service in March 2022. Since the end of December, he was reported missing near the village of Krasna Hora in Donetsk region.
As the SSU managed to establish, Oleksandr Matsievskyi was shot dead on December 30, 2022. His body was returned home in February 2023.
The SSU is currently taking comprehensive measures to identify the Russian military personnel who committed this crime. The pre-trial investigation is conducted under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).
The measures are being taken under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office."
As is known, on March 6, a video was posted online showing the Russian occupiers shooting a captured Ukrainian soldier for saying "Glory to Ukraine." The footage received a wide public response. The minimal amount of information about the time and place of this crime led to the identification of the Ukrainian Hero with 2 people.
The Facebook page of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade stated that the footage showed a soldier of this unit, Tymofiy Shadura, but emphasized that this was "preliminary data".
The Editor-in-Chief of Censor.NET, Yuriy Butusov, wrote in his blog that it was a soldier of the fire support company of the 163rd battalion of the Territorial Defense of Nizhyn of the 119th brigade of the TRO forces, Oleksandr Ihorovych Matsievskyi.
On March 8, the Regional Directorate of the Territorial Defense Forces "North" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially stated that the footage showed soldier Oleksandr Matsievskyi.
