Andersen: "UN does not have definition for word "ecocide""

"The UN doesn’t use the word ’ecocide’, we don’t have a definition for it."
Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Inger Andersen stated this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
"This is not a word for which there is a definition in the UN. It is not in our lexicon. But obviously, anyone can understand that this is a 'strong' word," Andersen said.
She added that the environment is never in good shape after the end of hostilities, no matter where or how it happened.
"However, the only thing that can stop this negative impact on the environment is peace," Andersen concluded.
We will remind you that Ukraine has repeatedly called on the world to oppose the ecocide that Russia is committing with its actions on Ukrainian territory. Deputy Prosecutor General Viktoriya Litvinova said that prosecutors of environmental prosecutor's offices are involved in the investigation of 104 war crimes that caused damage to the environment, of which 11 cases were initiated for the fact of ecocide.
