Pompeo: US does not support Ukraine enough

The head of the US State Department under Donald Trump, Mike Pompeo, considers the current US administration’s efforts to support Ukraine in the war against Russia to be insufficient.

He said this in an interview with European Pravda, Censor.NET reports.

Pompeo, who, according to American media, may take part in the 2024 presidential race, believes that the war in Ukraine is primarily a challenge for Europe, so, in his opinion, Europeans should do more than they are doing now.

But, according to him, this does not mean that there is no deep American interest in continuing to support Ukraine.

"I believe that we are not doing enough to support Ukraine, and what we are doing is not being done fast enough. The tragedy is that we could have provided Ukraine with such support that all this would have ended - but we didn't," the politician said.

Pompeo added that there are those in both US political parties who would disagree with this. "But I am convinced that helping you is incredibly important for America," he noted.

According to Pompeo, he personally would like the US to provide Ukraine with more weapons and to do it faster.

"At the moment, the American administration is very slow in these decisions and is too worried about how not to provoke Putin. This is the reason for the delays. Due to this, and due to the fact that you did not receive long-range weapons, etc., the situation (at the front. - Ed.) is now as we see it," said the former head of the US State Department.
