Biden plans to run for second term - NBC News
Top White House advisers are set to make a final decision on the launch of President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, even if the candidate himself does not announce his plans for 2024.

The publication notes that Biden has reasons for delaying the official announcement of his intention to run for a second term. Among them is the lack of a serious Democratic challenger in the election, and his now-impeached predecessor Donald Trump is the center of political attention. Biden also has a big showdown brewing with Republicans in Congress over spending.
"Part of the decisions have already been made, but he is outraged by the pressure that forces him to announce what he has already decided," a source familiar with the matter said.
Another longtime adviser who previously guided Biden's candidacy decisions said the delay in the announcement also serves to "preserve the option" of not running.
While Biden has previously said he "intends to run" in 2024, he almost always adds that he's relying on fate, hinting at the possibility that circumstances, political or personal, could change and steer him in a different direction.
But aides say they have little doubt Biden will run for a second term and that preparations are underway. At the same time, he relies on one of his main advantages at this time - to be the president, not a candidate.
"With no primary opposition in the primaries, Biden can afford the luxury of starting his latest campaign on his own terms. Biden has never been a favorite of the left, but the progressive wing of the Democratic Party seems to have rallied behind him," the publication notes.
