The meeting will take place on April 12 and will start at 11:00 CET (12:00 Kyiv time). "The purpose of the first meeting on Wednesday is to bring together the chairmen of the committees of the European Parliament and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to discuss Ukraine's path forward in the EU accession process, as well as to show solidarity with Kyiv as it still struggles with the Russian invasion. The event will be opened by the President of the European Parliament Roberta Mecola and the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk and will be held in a hybrid format," the statement said.

The European Parliament added that after the opening remarks of the two presidents, the audience will be divided into two panels: "Restoring European Ukraine" and "Building a sustainable future together". "MEPs and their Ukrainian counterparts will address a number of issues related to Ukraine's accession process, including economic policy, the rule of law, the anti-corruption program and budgetary control, as well as the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU law and the implementation of EU legislation. At the first meeting, the participants are expected to consider how they can further deepen bilateral relations between the committees of their respective institutions," the statement said.
