Kirby: US supports Ukraine’s membership in NATO
This is how John Kirby, the coordinator of the White House National Security Council, commented on the US position on Ukraine's prospects for NATO membership, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"We believe in NATO's open door policy. We also believe that NATO membership should be a subject of discussion between Ukraine and the Alliance. And we certainly would not interfere with those negotiations," Kirby emphasized.
He also noted that the United States and its allies are now focused on ensuring that Ukraine is able to defend itself against Russia's bloody and brutal invasion, as well as potential new invasions.
"That should be the focus right now - helping Ukraine succeed on the battlefield so that they can succeed at the negotiating table," the US administration official emphasized.
