According to the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Boris Kollar, it is unacceptable for a country in a military conflict to join NATO.

This is stated by Censor.NЕТ with reference to ZN.ua.

"Of course, a country that is currently engaged in a military conflict cannot join NATO, it is unacceptable. I think it would not even pass the ratification of the member states. It's very irresponsible to raise unnecessary hopes here," Kollar said.

He added that joining the Alliance can only take place in peacetime, otherwise Article 5 will be activated and member states will have to go to war.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Slovak Republic emphasized that this does not mean that he is against Ukraine's accession to NATO. "I am very sorry that there is fighting there, that Ukraine has been attacked, but this does not mean that any exception will be made for this reason. All member states should have the same rules," Kollar explained.
