Activities of UOC MP were banned in Zhytomyr region

The Zhytomyr Regional Council banned the activities of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate on the territory of the region. The corresponding decision was made at the regional council session.

"To ban the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which has an ecclesiastical-canonical connection with the Russian Orthodox Church (registered as the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, EDRPOU 21510633), is its structural subdivision and is in subordinate relations, on the territory of the Zhytomyr Region," the decision reads.

In addition, the regional council adopted an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada regarding the consideration and as soon as possible adoption of draft law No. 8371 dated January 19, 2023 "On amending some laws of Ukraine regarding the activities of religious organizations in Ukraine" and No. 8221 dated November 23, 2022 "On ensuring the strengthening of national of security in the sphere of freedom of conscience and activity of religious organizations".
