Denmark and Germany will hand over 80 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine
Denmark and Germany will jointly deliver 80 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine. They will be ready for use in June.
Acting Minister of Defense of Denmark Troels Lund Poulsen stated this, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
On May 5, he arrived in Germany on a working visit. Together with his German colleague Boris Pistorius, Poulsen checked how the tank training of the Armed Forces is conducted.
"The fact that we are supplying 80 Leopard 1 tanks is a very significant number," the minister said.
According to him, Leopard 1 tanks will be ready for commissioning in Ukraine on June 1. The training of Ukrainian tankers will last about a month.
The Minister of Defense of Denmark noted that the specified Leopard 1 tanks were decommissioned in 2005. They were in storage.
"They (tanks. - Ed.) have a very good ability to fire and a good ability to navigate the terrain," Poulsen added.
