Russians have learned to reduce effectiveness of HIMARS, - CNN

In recent months, the Russians have been preventing the effective operation of HIMARS with electronic means of suppression.

This is stated in a CNNarticle, Censor.NET reports.

"In recent months, Russia has increasingly interfered with the operation of US-made mobile missile systems in Ukraine, using electronic jamming to disable the GPS targeting system, causing the missiles to miss their targets," the authors write.

Medium-range jet systems were perceived as something that changed the situation in the war, the journalists write.

But the systems have become less effective in recent months due to intense Russian blocking, five American, British, and Ukrainian sources told CNN.

The publication notes that this has forced the search for ways to configure the HIMARS software in such a way as to resist jamming by the occupiers.

"It's a constant cat-and-mouse game" of finding countermeasures against jamming, only to have the Russians counter those countermeasures later. And it's unclear how long-term this game will be," says a Pentagon official.

Given that a major Ukrainian counteroffensive is expected very soon and Ukraine relies on HIMARS, solutions that will help Ukrainian forces make significant progress become even more of a priority, the authors note.

"It's one thing to contain the Russians where they are now. It's another thing to drive them out," said retired US Army Brigadier General Steven Anderson.
