Wagnerians control 85% of Bakhmut and have enough ammunition - Politico

According to Politico’s sources, the Wagner mercenaries continue to hold a large part of Bakhmut and, despite their losses, have enough ammunition to hold back the advance of Ukrainian forces.

This is stated by Censor.NЕТ with reference to UP.

Commenting on recent statements by Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin that mercenaries lack ammunition and support from regular troops, Politico's interlocutors called them untrustworthy. According to officials involved in White House discussions about Russia and the Wagner PMC, Prigozhin's goal is only to provoke a reaction in Moscow and force the Russian Defense Ministry to send additional weapons.

They added that the Wagner PMC continues to hold significant stockpiles of ammunition and controls at least 85% of Bakhmut. One of Politico's sources added that there is a possibility that Chechen units could be involved in the offensive on the city.

The U.S. National Security Council refused to comment directly on Prigozhin's "theatrics" at Politico's request.

"Prigozhin has treated his soldiers like cannon fodder, sacrificing their lives for small advances with no apparent strategic benefit in an effort to achieve his political goals," a spokesman said.
