Russia has been preparing for war with Ukraine since 2007, - Budanov
Russia began preparing for a full-scale war against Ukraine in 2007 and planned an invasion for 2021.
The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov spoke about this in an іnterview with journalist Dmitry Komarov, reports Censor.NЕТ.
"Russia started actively preparing for aggression against Ukraine in 2007. In 2014, they took advantage of a convenient moment for them, and basically, we can see how it has been moving on. But at that time, they seized the moment. However, I am telling you again, if the events of 2014 had not happened, it would not have changed anything. The war between us was inevitable," Budanov emphasized.
He added that, according to the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate, Russia planned to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in March 2021.
"Their plans were exposed, then it was decided to make all these materials and understanding public to foreign partners and with their help diplomatically prevent it. In principle, it worked. But they never left the place where they began to concentrate just between February and March until April 2021," said the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
Earlier, Budanov said that the enemy's potential for powerful offensive actions had been completely exhausted, but the occupiers had built a strong defense.
