Ukraine may be involved in drone attack on Kremlin, according to US intelligence, - CNN

кремль

US intelligence has intercepted conversations between Ukrainian and Russian high-ranking officials, who suggest that the SOF of Ukraine may be involved in the drone attack on the Kremlin.

This is reported by CNN with reference to sources close to intelligence, Censor.NET informs.

According to him, the interception of conversations between Ukrainian and Russian military officials forced American officials to consider the possibility that Ukrainian forces were behind the attack on the Kremlin on May 3.

At the same time, the United States has not yet reached a final conclusion about whether this is really the case, CNN notes.

The Americans also consider it unlikely that high-ranking Ukrainian officials - in particular, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi - ordered the attack or knew about it in advance.

American intelligence reports: Russian officials assume that Ukraine is behind the attack. So the Americans believe that, most likely, the incident was not organized by the Russians as a pretext for further escalation of aggression against Ukraine.

Also, in response to the attack, the Kremlin made some changes to the internal security system.

The drones that hit the Kremlin were small, with relatively light payloads, which is likely why they didn't trigger Russian air defense systems, sources told CNN. It is not known whether they had sufficient flight range to fly from Ukraine to Moscow.

It will be recalled that on May 3, a video clip was distributed in which a pillar of smoke can be seen near the Kremlin, as if after an explosion. The Russian authorities said that at night Ukraine allegedly tried to "strike with drones" the Kremlin residence of Russian dictator Putin. In the official message of the Russians, it is said that the military and special services disabled two drones that attacked the Kremlin.

Later, a video was published showing footage of a fire in the Moscow Kremlin. And also the moment when the drone hit the main dome of the Kremlin.

Putin's spokesman Dmytro Peskov said that the president of the Russian Federation was not injured and continues to work as usual.

Ukraine denies any involvement in the alleged drone attack in Moscow.
