Bohdan Torokhtiy, a member of Servant of People faction, had a seaside holiday abroad during martial law and uses a Mercedes-Benz EQS he bought in March 2013.
This is stated in an investigation by Bihus.Info, Censor.NET reports.
Bohdan Torokhtiia has been a member of the Servant of the People faction since August 2019. According to Bihus.Info, the MP was one of the visitors to the office of the shadow curator of the group of MPs, businessman Ilya Pavliuk. This group is known for organising votes in favour of various financial and industrial groups, most often in the interests of oligarch Rinat Akhmetov. Torokhtiy voted in concert with the entire group.
After the Russian invasion, Torokhtiy's family managed to change three cars, all of which were purchased in the name of his wife, Alina Levchenko. The wife is the daughter of football coach Vitaliy Levchenko, a former assistant to MP Serhiy Kaplin and a former adviser to former Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan.
For example, in July 2022, Alina Levchenko sold her Range Rover Sport for about $76,000 and in the same month became the owner of a 2020 Mercedes-Benz G400. The lowest cost of such an SUV on the secondary market is $158,800. In December 2022, Levchenko changed her Mercedes for a new Range Rover. According to Torokhtii, the couple pre-ordered the car back in 2021, and the SUV came to them so late because of the full-scale war. A car similar to Levchenko's Range Rover is currently selling for $185,000.
In March 2023, the Range Rover was "exchanged" for a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 electric car. Judging by the two-tone design of the car, this is a special version of the EQS 580 - Edition One. A new one can be found on sale for $197,851, and in March, the EQS 580 Edition One was sold for $185,000. Journalists recorded how MP Torokhtiy uses this car.
Shortly before Russia's full-scale invasion, Torokhtiy was among the initiators of draft law No. 7055. It provided for a ban on MPs leaving the country, except by order of the President of Ukraine to exercise their powers. However, this legislative ban on MPs was never adopted.
And on 23 April 2022, Torokhtiy tried to leave the country through the Porubne border crossing point on the border with Romania. That time, border guards did not let him leave the country. Bihus.Info learned about this from the court register - the MP filed a lawsuit to appeal the decision to ban him from leaving the country, and the issue was resolved out of court.
The journalists managed to identify one of Torokhtiy's trips abroad thanks to the MP's wife's posts on social media. Torokhtiy and Levchenko were in Bulgaria in August 2022, shortly before their second wedding anniversary. Bihus.Info found this out thanks to several photos of Levchenko taken in the Bulgarian town of Elenite. Despite the fact that Levchenko did not use a geotag, the journalists identified the location of the photo shoot by a metal grill, a napkin and a window - the Fish Restaurant Levant Beach, located on the Black Sea coast in Elenite.
On 14 August 2022, Levchenko posted a photo of herself in the establishment. A few days later, on 20 August, on their wedding anniversary, she posted a photo of herself and Torokhtiy, taken from the same place, in the same clothes, with the same make-up and jewellery, and apparently on the same day as the previous one. In general, in the summer of 2022, Levchenko posted many photos from Bulgaria, which confirms that she was in that country at the time. A joint photo in Bulgaria with Torokhtiy proves that he was also there in August 2022.
In a commentary to journalists, the MP confirmed that he had travelled abroad after the full-scale invasion on family matters: to visit his children, who had left Ukraine, and his wife. In the case of his stay in Bulgaria, Torokhtiy said that he did not remember whether he had gone there in August 2022, nor did he remember the likely purpose of his stay there.
