Russia can buy parts for tanks and missiles that it previously sent to Myanmar and India. Such reimport may be aimed at improving weapons for use in the war against Ukraine.

As Censor.NET informs, this was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Nikkei.

The publication analyzed the customs clearance data and found information about Russia's purchase of components for weapons and equipment that it previously exported to Myanmar and India.

Thus, an aggressor country can reimport components to improve old weapons, relying on the help of countries with which it has long-standing military ties.

For example, Uralvagonzavod, which produces tanks for the Russian military, imported $24 million worth of military products from the Myanmar army on December 9, 2022.

At the same time, the parts were registered as allegedly manufactured by Uralvagonzavod. The codes for the reimported goods indicate that 6,775 sight tubes and 200 cameras were purchased for installation on tanks.

Nobuyuki Akatani, a retired senior officer of the Ground Self-Defense Forces of Japan, believes that it is probably about optical devices for measuring the distance to targets and targeting them.

It will be recalled that after the start of a full-scale war, the USA, European countries and Japan banned the export of goods to Russia that could potentially be used for military purposes.
