Canada officially joins the "aircraft coalition", in particular in terms of training Ukrainian pilots and aircraft maintenance.

This was announced by the deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva, informing about the agreements reached during the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Ukraine, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

"During the bilateral negotiations between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, a number of important agreements for Ukraine were reached. Among the main ones, Canada officially joins the Coalition of Combat Aircraft, in particular, in terms of training Ukrainian pilots and aircraft maintenance," Zhovkva emphasized.

He recalled that the Prime Minister of Canada announced an additional package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of about 400 million dollars, which will include artillery shells and missiles. In addition, Canada increases sanctions pressure on the aggressor and introduces new sanctions against individuals and legal entities

The deputy head of the PO noted that following the results of the meeting, the leaders of the two countries signed a Joint Declaration, which defines the priority areas of cooperation, and also records Canada's support in fundamentally important issues for Ukraine. The declaration outlines the range of assistance, in particular political, military, financial and humanitarian, which Canada has already provided and plans to provide in the future to Ukraine.

In particular, the declaration clearly records the Canadian side's support for Ukraine's acquisition of NATO membership as soon as conditions permit. "This is the strongest wording among all the G7 countries that are NATO members," Zhovkva emphasized.

He noted that Canada also supports the creation of the Ukraine-NATO Council instead of the corresponding Commission, and this is the first such public support for the new mechanism of interaction between Ukraine and the Alliance.

"Only 10 days have passed since the Summit of the European Political Community in Moldova, where we signed a Joint Declaration with Romania, and as of today, we already have the formalization of support for Ukraine's membership in the Alliance with 20 member states," Zhovkva said.
