In the next few weeks, the Rheinmetall concern is going to sign a multibillion-dollar contract with the German government and deliver the first 35-mm projectiles for Gepard anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine in July.

This was stated by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, Censor.NET reports with reference to Reuters.

"Germany is going to sign a big framework contract with us," he told reporters.

According to Papperger, the value of the deal will reach several billion euros. They are going to conclude it within the next one and a half months.

Rheinmetall launched the production line after Switzerland refused to allow the export of 35 mm Gepard ammunition to Ukraine.

According to Papperger, in July, Rheinmetall will deliver the first 35 mm projectiles made on the new production line in Germany.

"The government has ordered 300,000 shells... This year, we will definitely supply 40,000 to 60,000 shells," he said.

Throughout the year, Papperger expects defense orders worth "double-digit amounts" in the billions of euros.

"This is definitely going to be our best year in terms of taking orders," he said, adding that he expects a range of deals - from vehicles, ammunition, electronics, and radar systems.
