China attaches great importance to ensuring safety at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and calls for the de-escalation of the "Ukrainian crisis".
This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Mao Ning, at a briefing regarding the notification of the Ukrainian side about the preparation of a terrorist attack on the ZNPP by the Russian invaders, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.
"China attaches great importance to safety at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and fully supports the constructive role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in its support. ...
All parties must act responsibly, take into account the increased danger posed by any incident at the Zaporizhia NPP... and take measures to de-escalate tensions and secure the facilities of this nuclear plant," Mao Ning said.
According to her, the safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP is part of the "Ukrainian crisis", and its provision "depends on the prospects of a political settlement of the "crisis" as such."
The diplomat added that China, for its part, continues to maintain a stable position and will contribute to peaceful negotiations and the search for a political solution to the "Ukrainian crisis".
