Sakvarelidze faces criminal case over high prosecutors searches, - Nayyem
On suspicion of extorting a large scale bribe the Deputy Head of the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office Volodymyr Shapakin and the Deputy Prosecutor of Kyiv region Oleksandr Korniiets have been detained. As a result of this operation a criminal proceeding against Davit Sakvarelidze has been opened.
As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the Poroshenko Bloc MP Mustafa Nayyem on his Facebook page.
"According to my information, during the detention a total of approximately 500 thousand USD, as well as jewelry and securities were found.
In particular, during the search of Shapakin there were found:
- 130 thousand USD in the office;
- 30 thousand USD and 22 thousand EUR in the house;
- 170 thousand USD and 500 thousand UAH in the apartment;
- documents for deposit investments amounting to 800 thousand UAH, as well as unregistered firearms and ammunition," Nayyem wrote.
Also, during the search of Korniiets 35 packages with diamonds with a total of 65 stones were found.
"The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Prosecutor General Davit Sakvarelidze and the SBU chairman Vasyl Hrytsak" the MP said.
Nayyem also wrote that as a result of this operation a criminal proceeding against Davit Sakvarelidze had been opened.
"The criminal proceeding has been commenced by order of the Deputy Prosecutor General Volodymyr Huzyr under the article "seizure of state institutions". The fact is that during the detention an Alpha special forces unit was involved, which had to break out the doors to the offices of the detained officials," the MP said.
The news about the opening of the criminal case against Sakvarelidze was confirmed by another MP Andrii Levus.
