Ukraine produced more ammunition in June than in whole year of 2022 - Kamyshin

In June 2023, the Ukrainian defense industry produced more mortar and artillery ammunition than in the entire previous year. One exact figure must remain a secret.
This was stated in an interview with Bloomberg by Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin, reports Censor.NЕТ.
"I would not say that we managed to increase ammunition production in three months. In 2022, we produced so little. We have to be ambitious because we have no choice. My goal is to make Ukraine the arsenal of the free world," Kamyshin said.
Kamyshin also said that he paid attention to mortar shells first, as they are central to the battle he calls "the Second World War with drones."
It is noted that Ukraine is now increasing domestic production of ammunition. Also, Ukrainian anti-tank systems "Stugna-P" began to roll off the assembly lines faster.
Increasing the production of tanks and armored vehicles is the next priority, but it will take 3-6 months.
In the long-term, Kamyshin envisions Ukraine becoming a leading arms producer, which could be used to boost the recovery of the economy, which shrank by almost a third last year.
