Allies understand us, - Blinken on providing Kyiv with cluster munitions
Our partners are supportive of the fact that the United States is providing Ukraine with cluster munitions.
According to Censor.NЕТ, this was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to the interview NBC.
Blinken reminded that the United States is providing ammunition banned by more than 100 countries to "fill the gap" as the world's ammunition stockpiles are depleting.
"Stockpiles of unitary munitions, not cluster munitions, are running out all over the world and in Ukraine. They are about to run out," explained Blinken.
He emphasized that the partners understand why the United States is doing this.
"Every ally I've talked to has said they understand why we're doing it and when we're doing it," the US Secretary of State said.
Blinken also noted that the Allies are working to build up conventional weapons capabilities, but "there will be a gap between when they run out of those munitions and when new munitions can come into service."
"And so the difficult but necessary choice to give them (Ukraine - ed.) cluster munitions came down to this: if we don't do it... they will run out of ammunition. If they run out of ammunition, they will be defenseless," he added.
