In Athens, Zelenskyy and von der Leyen discussed Ukraine’s path to EU and grain exports

In Athens, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen met within the framework of the Ukraine-Balkans informal summit.

As Censor.NET reports, they shared the results of the meeting on Twitter.

Ursula von der Leyen noted that the meeting was "productive" and discussed Ukraine's progress towards joining the EU, as well as European support for Ukraine against the background of Russian aggression.

"We will continue our joint work in order to deliver Ukrainian grain to world markets and provide economic assistance," she emphasized.

Zelenskyy thanked the President of the European Commission for her efforts to improve the export and transit of Ukrainian agricultural products. "It is important to fully restore them from September 15," he emphasized.

The head of state added that he hopes for a positive evaluation by the European Commission of the implementation of the recommendations that Ukraine received along with the candidate status, and the opening of accession negotiations by the end of 2023.

Also, during the negotiations, positions were coordinated regarding the future Global Summit to implement the "Peace Formula" proposed by Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy also thanked the president of the European Commission for the next tranche of aid in the amount of 1.5 billion euros. Zelenskyy and von der Leyen discussed the review of the IMF program for Ukraine and assessed Ukraine's progress in implementing the seven recommendations of the European Commission and further steps in this direction.

Also remind, on August 21, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Greece for a meeting at an informal summit of the leaders of the Western Balkan countries.

Also in Greece, the leaders of 11 countries of South-Eastern Europe signed the Athens Declaration in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
