Wherever you are - at home or at work, in the central square of a big city or in a small village street - stop. Stop for a minute to thank those who protect us by fighting for the freedom of the state. Stop to honour the memory of the defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine.
Sunday. 9:00. A minute of silence. A minute of honour," the statement reads.
As a reminder, the Day of Defenders of Ukraine is a public holiday in Ukraine, which is celebrated on the feast of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. It was established on 14 October 2014 by a decree of President Petro Poroshenko. Due to the reform of the church calendar in Ukraine, the celebration has been moved to 1 October 2023.
