In September, the Russians used a record number of Shahed-136 kamikaze drones for strikes on the territory of Ukraine. The average share of destroyed targets by air defense forces is quite high at 78.7%.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to statistics from Defense Express.
It is noted that more than half a thousand Shahed-136 in September was a record use of kamikaze drones of this type in one month, and "significantly more" than the previous highest figure, which was recorded in May - 413.
"In particular, in June, the enemy released 197 Shahed, in July - 246, in June - 167. And in September - 503 units.
And out of 503 Shahed-136, our defenders managed to shoot down 396 units, and the average share of destroyed targets is actually quite high at 78.7%," the message reads.
The publication also presented an infographic compiled on the basis of reports from the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the number of Shahed kamikaze drones launched and shot down.
It is also emphasized that despite such massiveness, the fact that "they are relatively cheap for the enemy" plays an important role.
"Of course, it is not known at what specific price tag the Russian Federation buys Iranian anti-aircraft missiles, but their cost is estimated at 20,000 to 40,000 dollars. In this case, the September number of Shaheds conventionally cost the Kremlin from 10-20 million dollars, if he had received them at cost price," Defense Express notes.
