Support for Ukraine was one of the topics discussed at a joint meeting of the German and French governments in Hamburg, as well as bilateral talks between the two leaders.

This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

"Supporting Ukraine remains an important concern for us," Scholz said.

According to him, the current goal is to "reduce, as much as possible, the consequences of the Russian bombing terror against the civilian population of Ukraine in the fall and winter." We need to protect critical infrastructure and the energy system. That is why, the German Chancellor recalled, he announced last week plans to transfer another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.

But Germany and France will also support Ukraine in the long term, the Prime Minister said. "In that regard, bilateral talks are conducted on promises to provide Ukraine with security guarantees," Scholz said.

French President Emmanuel Macron, in turn, noted that the current meeting provided an opportunity to once again demonstrate full solidarity with Ukraine and support in its fight against Russian aggression.
