Hungary allowed to import sugar from Ukraine

Hungary has lifted the ban on imports of Ukrainian cane and beet sugar, which was introduced after 15 September 2023.
The Hungarian government issued the relevant decree, Censor.NET reports, citing European Pravda.
From now on, Ukrainian sugar can be freely imported into Hungary, as it has been removed from the list of products subject to the import ban.
Despite the compromise found by the European Commission to lift restrictions on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products, Hungary decided to impose its own unilateral ban on imports of Ukrainian grain and other products after 15 September.
Hungary decided to close its borders to 24 types of Ukrainian products, including meat of cattle, pigs, sheep and goats, as well as chicken, wheat, rye, barley, corn and corn products, vegetables, sugar and wine.
At the same time, the ban did not apply to goods leaving the country within 15 days, i.e., they are considered to have entered Hungary for transit.
