Ukraine’s accession to NATO is impossible while war continues, - German Ambassador

German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger denied that his country opposes Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
He said this in an interview withYevropeiska Pravda, Censor.NET reports.
"No, we are not actively opposing Ukraine's membership. There is no need to think so. It is obvious to us that Ukraine's future lies in the European Union and NATO. And we are only discussing ways to join NATO," Jäger said.
According to him, at the July NATO summit in Vilnius, there was a clear understanding by all parties that Ukraine's accession to NATO was impossible while the war was ongoing.
At the same time, the German diplomat noted the experience of the Ukrainian army, which "can become a huge asset for the North Atlantic Alliance in the future".
"But despite all this, the decisive thing is that a political decision on accession must be made. And now we have what we have," he added.
The German ambassador is convinced that the results of the Vilnius summit satisfied everyone.
"So, on this basis, we look to the future and continue to work," concluded Jäger.
