Acting mayor of Sumy Pavlyk is being searched
Law enforcement officers are conducting searches at the office of the acting mayor of Sumy Yuliia Pavlyk.
Information about the searches was confirmed by the head of the press service of the Sumy Municipal Council, Olha Semenysta, Censor.NET reports with reference to Suspilne.
According to Suspilne, in addition to the acting mayor, searches are taking place at 12 entrepreneurs, utility companies and the municipal council itself.
The facts are being verified that a number of business entities, by prior conspiracy with officials of the Sumy Municipal Council, embezzle budget funds allocated for the purchase of inventories.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Sumy District Police Department with the operational support of the Office of Strategic Research in the Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the Sumy District Public Prosecutor's Office.
The searches were confirmed in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda by the spokeswoman of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, Nataliia Kalynovska.
"I confirm that the measures are being carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings opened on the fact of appropriation of budget funds for public procurement," she said.
