Former Commander of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine Viktor Khorenko will continue to perform special tasks as part of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
As Censor.NET informs, this was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening video address.
"General Viktor Khorenko, who commanded the Special Operations Forces, will continue to perform special tasks as part of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
Speaking about the newly appointed commander of the Special Operations Forces Serhii Lupanchuk, the head of state noted that "he is an experienced officer, a combat officer, the right commander and a person who can add more power to our Special Operations Forces." "We are waiting for new results," Zelenskyy said.
As reported, on November 3, the President of Ukraine by decree dismissed Viktor Khorenko from the post of commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Serhii Lupanchuk to this position.
Khorenko has served as commander of the Special Operations Forces since July 25, 2022. Previously, this position was held by Hryhorii Halahan.
Lupanchuk has the rank of colonel. There is no publicly available information about him.
