Writer and National Guardsman Maksym Petrenko died in war

Today, November 6, it became known about the death of the National Guardsman and author of the book "Quiet Night" Maksym Petrenko. For some time, he was considered missing, or taken prisoner by the Russians.
As Censor.NET informs, this was reported by book reviewer Hanna Skorina.
"We hoped and believed that the fact that he went missing meant that he was in captivity. The miracle did not happen... The only thing I know so far is confirmation from the unit where Maksym served. A DNA examination confirmed that it was Maksym and that they had left the unit for Dnipro to pick up Maksym. The burial is planned at the end of the week," Skorina wrote.
Maksym Petrenko worked as a programmer until 2014, taught at the University "Ukraine", participated in international competitions of robotic platforms and prepared students for such competitions, and when the war began, he first picked up a machine gun and defended Ukraine.
In April 2014, Maksym joined the newly created volunteer second operational battalion at the National Guard of Ukraine, which was later named the Operational Battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine Major General Serhiy Kulchytskyi.
After returning to civilian life, the veteran continued to work at the university, began to work more actively on his own ideas, received a grant for the development of his own business and wrote the book "Good Night".
This is a 2014 volunteer diary novel. The plot covers the period from February 20 to July 24, 2014.
With the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine Maksym returned to the war again.
In the summer of 2022, he was reported missing.
In 2020, Censor.NET published an interview with Maksym Petrenko: Senior Rifleman Maksym Petrenko: "The day came when I really believed that I would die right here and now. It was the first tank attack on the ATO forces"
