Today, November 21, Ukrainians also celebrate the Day of Dignity and Freedom - a holiday established in honor of two revolutions that took place in 2004 and 2013. On this day, people who stood up for the protection of democracy, rights, and freedoms of citizens during the Revolution of Dignity and the Orange Revolution are honored.
It was on November 21 that the first protest actions of the public began against the decision of the then authorities to stop the course towards European integration and cancel the process of preparation for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
First, Ukrainians organized a protest in Kyiv, and later other citizens went to Euromaidan in Lviv, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Uzhhorod, Lutsk, and other cities.
The European Commission emphasized: "Ten years ago, the Ukrainian people, wrapped in European flags and yearning for change, declared: Ukraine has a place in Europe. And our future belongs to us. These strong words, spoken during the Euromaidan night, changed the course of history.
This choice provoked Putin's aggression - the seizure of Crimea, causing destabilization in Donbas and the beginning of a full-scale attack in 2022. Ukraine has been fighting against Russia for freedom for ten years. Now your reforms and our proposal for accession negotiations declare: Ukraine's future is within the European Union."
