Switzerland freezes Russian assets worth almost $9bn

Switzerland has frozen approximately 7.7 billion Swiss francs ($8.8 billion) of Russian financial assets as part of sanctions designed to punish Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine.
This is reported by Radio Liberty with reference to the Swiss government, Censor.NET informs.
These preliminary data are a slight increase compared to the 7.5 billion francs that the Swiss government blocked last year after the neutral country joined the EU sanctions.
After Switzerland supported the EU sanctions against Russia, Swiss financial institutions are prohibited from accepting deposits from Russian individuals and legal entities if the total amount of deposits exceeds CHF 100,000.
