Leonty Sandulyak, co-author of the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine, died

On 3 December, the co-author of the Act of Declaration of State Independence of Ukraine, Leonty Sandulyak, died.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported in a statement by the Chernivtsi Regional Council.

"At the age of 87, Leontiy Ivanovych Sandulyak, the first Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador  of Ukraine in Romania, co-author of the Act of Declaration of State Independence of Ukraine, Honorary Citizen of Chernivtsi, passed away," the regional council said.

Leonty Sandulyak was the first democratically elected People's Deputy of the USSR of the last convocation from the city of Chernivtsi and Hlyboka district (44th electoral district, which included the current Hertsaiv district, which was restored at his request in 1989).

The first head of the Chernivtsi regional organisation of the People's Movement of Ukraine. He was also one of the founders of the People's Movement of Ukraine.

The first chairman of the Green Movement of Bukovyna, and thus its honorary chairman; one of the founders of the Green World Association and thus its honorary chairman

The first Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador  of Ukraine in Romania.

Among other things, Sandulyak was a co-author of the Act of Declaration of State Independence of Ukraine.
