The Netherlands supports the European Commission’s recommendation to start EU membership talks with Ukraine.

"My main message to Minister Kuleba was the same as to all of you. Be sure of our support. Your fight is our fight, and your security is our security. That is why the Netherlands government has allocated EUR 2.5 billion to support Ukraine in 2024. We also discussed Ukraine's aspirations to become a member of the European Union. I am pleased to announce that we are positive about the European Commission's recommendations to open membership negotiations with Ukraine, because your future is with us," Slot said at a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv.
In addition, the Netherlands Foreign Minister noted "how impressive Ukraine's efforts to implement the necessary reforms under such difficult circumstances have been." "We will be with you throughout the process," Slot assured.
The minister also said that she and Kuleba visited an artillery training center, emphasizing that the bravery of Ukrainian soldiers "knows no bounds." In addition, she said that yesterday she visited Bucha in the Kyiv region.
