This week, the aggressor country’s troops significantly increased pressure on the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The situation is escalating, but Ukraine’s defense has withstood the increased pressure.

This was stated by the head of the Estonian Military Intelligence Center, Colonel Ants Kiviselg, Censor.NET reports with reference to LigaBusinessInform.

At a weekly briefing at the Estonian Ministry of Defense, the colonel noted that "the intensity of fighting in Ukraine has increased by about a quarter compared to the previous week" as Russia is trying to regain the initiative in all areas, but there were no serious changes on the front line.

Over the course of the week, Russian forces are estimated to have lost about 10,000 wounded and killed, which "is a very significant number for one week," Kiviselg said.

The main focus of the Russian offensive is still on the Avdiivka area, where the most intense fighting is taking place. At the same time, Russia has changed its offensive tactics and switched from frontal infantry attacks to long-range shelling. According to intelligence, this "significantly complicated the regrouping of Ukrainian units, as well as the formation and improvement of defensive positions."

Kiviselg also noted that Russia has begun to regroup, which could mean preparations for even more intense offensives.

Speaking about the situation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the colonel said that the Ukrainian defense is "not broken."

He noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces still hold two footholds on the Dnipro River, which forced Russia to deploy additional troops to this area. This, in particular, has led to the fact that due to poor coordination, Russian units are suffering additional losses in new areas of combat, such as minefields set up by the occupiers themselves.
