Russians have already wounded 1158 Ukrainian children - Lubinets

Since February 24, 2022, Russians have already wounded 1158 Ukrainian children.
This was reported by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets following his participation in a meeting of the Committee on the Protection of Ukrainian Children in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.
During a meeting of this PACE committee, Lubinets spoke about Russia's war crimes against Ukrainian children.
"Russia violates the fundamental rights of Ukrainian children every day: the right to life, safety, education, family upbringing, a safe environment and medical care. These figures will serve as evidence: (Russians - ed.) killed 512 and injured 1158 children. They damaged or completely destroyed 167,200 houses, 3,915 educational institutions, and 1,668 medical facilities," he said.
According to him, the Russians have already deported more than 1,940 children, and these are only those who have been verified.
The Ukrainian ombudsman cited data from the Office of the Prosecutor General, which recorded the facts of sexual violence against 12 girls and 1 boy aged 4 to 17 and found that 75 Ukrainian children had suffered from torture by the Russian military.
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights noted that the numbers of wounded, dead, deported, victims of sexual violence or torture are growing every day.
"During my speech, I emphasized that when I was preparing my speech, the numbers were one way, and today they are different. And these are not just numbers - they are evidence for the International Tribunal, which will definitely take place," Lubinets said.
He stated that through the joint efforts of the Ombudsman's Office, the Office of the President, Ukrainian and international human rights organizations, UNICEF, and with the mediation of the State of Qatar, Ukraine is returning its children home.
At this meeting, the Ombudsman also said that Russia's policy towards Ukrainian children is part of the genocide of the Ukrainian nation and violates international humanitarian law, namely the Geneva Convention and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. According to him, the Russian Federation neglects all these norms.
"I expressed hope that the Committee on the Protection of Ukrainian Children, established in PACE, will consolidate its aspirations and efforts to set reliable guidelines for ensuring the rights of Ukrainian children to decent education, health care, and care. And we will jointly develop a real international mechanism within the framework of international humanitarian law so that our children do not suffer," the Ombudsman informed.
