Canada and Poland to step up cooperation in assisting Ukraine

Ottawa plans to work closely with Warsaw to continue providing military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, this was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Poland Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh, who held his first international meeting as minister with his Canadian counterpart Bill Blair in Warsaw on Monday.
"A very important declaration was made regarding the strengthening of Canada's presence in Poland, Canadian troops on NATO's eastern flank," Kosiniak-Kamysh said.
According to him, the parties discussed the provision of assistance to Ukraine. He drew attention to the significant involvement of Canada, which has a large Ukrainian diaspora, in supporting Ukraine.
The Polish minister noted that his Canadian counterpart stressed that 85 per cent of Canadian society supports the government's actions to help Ukraine. Therefore, Ottawa has a significant public mandate to help Kyiv and cooperate with Warsaw in this context.
The Polish official said that he and the Canadian minister had agreed on further cooperation in defence, exchange of experience and assistance to Ukraine.
Kosiniak-Kamysh noted that the Canadian minister thanked the Polish side and the Polish military for their efforts to establish logistical ways to provide military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. He noted that this declaration by the Canadian side is very important for Poland. The minister added that Warsaw would continue to work closely with Ottawa, in particular in providing assistance to Ukraine.
