Health condition, three minor children, caring for parents with disabilities - Land Forces on reasons for mobilization deferment

Currently, Ukraine has a clearly defined list of reasons and required documents for the deferment of mobilization. The deferment may be granted for health reasons, due to the presence of three or more minor children, or to care for parents with disabilities.

This was stated by the head of the public relations service of the Land Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Volodymyr Fito, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

"For example, the main reasons are as follows: if a person liable for military service has three minor children, if he is taking care of disabled parents, or if he has a disability and needs constant care. There are also health reasons, etc. The list of reasons is clearly defined and published," said Fito.

But, according to him, if a person liable for military service has any of these conditions, he must personally inform his military recruitment center about them.

"Because there are cases when there is a "hype" that someone is being drafted into the army, but they have a reason for deferment. For example, there is an elderly mother who needs care - all this must be documented, and all these documents must be submitted to the Military Recruitment Centre in person," explained the representative of the Army.

In addition, students have to submit certificates in person once a year stating that they are enrolled as full-time students at a particular university.

"Unfortunately, there are cases when these documents are not provided for some reason. And then the Russian media picks up on the fact that a man whose mother is disabled is being drafted into the army. In fact, if you look into it, the relevant documents were simply not provided, and the person did not apply for a deferment. Accordingly, according to the law, the Military Recruitment Centre are doing everything right. But people's emotions say that we are breaking the law," said Fito.
