Poland is against the extension of trade preferences for Ukraine

Poland’s Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekerski wrote a letter to the European Commissioner for Trade, warning that Poland is against trade concessions for Ukraine.
The RMF FM radio station writes about this with reference to the letter of the Polish minister, Censor.NET informs.
The letter notes that the position of the new Polish government regarding trade problems with Ukraine has changed little.
"Regarding the possible extension of trade preferences for the import of agricultural products from Ukraine for another year, I want to emphasize that in principle I am against such a decision," said Sekersky's letter.
Sekersky emphasizes that problems with excessive imports arise "not only in the sectors of corn, wheat and rape, but also in the sectors of sugar, poultry meat, eggs, berries (especially frozen raspberries) or apple concentrate".
The cancellation of quotas for Ukrainian sugar caused an increase in its import to the EU in the 2022/2023 season by 20 times compared to the volume of the quota established in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the Polish minister noted.
"The immediate liberalization of imports contributes not so much to the economy of Ukraine, but to increasing the profits of a small group of oligarchs who often place their capital outside of Ukraine," the Polish minister said, and proposed to move to a gradual mutual liberalization of markets between Ukraine and the EU.
The "Law and Justice" government withdrew from this Platform as a sign of protest against the fact that the European Commission did not extend the EU embargo on Ukrainian grain. Sekerskyi also expressed his willingness to meet with the European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis.
