NATO expects prolonged war in Ukraine – Deputy Secretary General Geoană (updated)

The West should prepare for the fact that Russia’s war against Ukraine will continue for a long time and may not end even in 2025.
This was stated by NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
"My call is to prepare for a long war, it will continue. It will not happen in 2024, probably not in 2025. We don't see anywhere the military capability to be able to win a decisive victory in one way or another," the NATO Deputy Secretary General said.
He said that NATO expects a prolonged war with small offensives, counteroffensives, gaining and losing territory.
"With our support, Ukrainians managed to regain 50% of the territory originally occupied by the Russians. This is not a trifle. Under no circumstances do we see any conditions and will not be able to accept Russia returning to the Romanian border," said Ioane.
He noted that NATO needs Ukraine to survive, the Republic of Moldova to join Europe, and Georgia to join the Euro-Atlantic community.
The NATO Deputy Secretary General expressed confidence that Western allies would continue to fund Ukraine's defense needs.
"I don't think we will have huge difficulties in terms of financing Ukrainian efforts, which are also our efforts. But we have a problem with industrial capacities, mainly in Europe, because for 30 years we have been collecting, including Romania, the dividends of the world and thought that after the end of the Cold War everything would be quiet and peaceful," said Ioane.
