UN warns of reduction in international aid to Ukraine

The humanitarian situation in Ukraine remains "very serious", but international aid is likely to be reduced.
As Censor.NET informs, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi warned about this in an interview with Zeit.
According to him, Ukrainian society showed itself to be very strong and united after the Russian attack, but after two years of hostilities, "the tension is palpable."
"These rifts are becoming visible, and of course, there is a risk that they will widen as international support in all its forms diminishes," Grandi said.
He added that in 2022-2023, the work of UNHCR and other aid agencies was well funded, but this year there was a threat of reduced funding due to the fact that Russia's war against Ukraine lost international attention, while the war in the Gaza Strip dominates the news headlines. And the three main donors - Germany, the USA, and the EU - the amount of aid for Ukraine has not yet been determined.
"The priority is houses, repairs are everything that gives people shelter," Grandi said about the work of UNHCR in Ukraine.
Especially often you have to insert new windows.
Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, UNHCR, together with other humanitarian organizations and Ukrainian agencies, has repaired 27,500 houses. This is particularly important for refugees to return home.
According to UN estimates, there are 3.7 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine and another 6.3 million refugees in other countries.
"Ten million people do not live in their homes," said the High Commissioner.
