Russian army has about hundred Il-76 aircraft in service - Ihnat

Russia has about a hundred Il-76 aircraft in service, and they carry various military cargoes.
The spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, said this during a telethon, Censor.NET reports.
"We also have such aircraft in service. Military transport aircraft based in Melitopol. These planes are powerful, heavy, and fly all over the world. They carry military and other cargo. Russia has about a hundred of these aircraft," Ignat said.
According to him, everyone knows that for the Russians "the lives of pilots and one or two planes are not a serious loss in their inhuman bloody regime."
"You've seen the story of the Wagner PMC. You saw how many aircraft Wagner's men downed. You'd be surprised if Russia didn't mourn or regret what they lost," the Air Force spokesman added.
What happened to the Russian Il-76 airplane
On January 24, an Il-76 aircraft used to transport equipment and troops crashed in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
Russian media reported that the plane was carrying mostly Ukrainian prisoners of war, all of whom were killed.
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed that a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine was to take place on January 24.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine will insist on an international investigation into the situation with the plane and the exchange of prisoners.
The Security Service of Ukraine opened an investigation into the fact that the Il-76 crashed in the Belgorod region.
Neither the UN nor the US can establish whether there were Ukrainian prisoners of war on board the plane.
