The Dzerzhynsk District Court of Kharkiv found guilty of high treason and sentenced to 15 years with confiscation of property a former police officer from Izium who worked for the Russian occupation forces.

According to Censor.NET, the Prosecutor General's Office reported this on Telegram.

Following a public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the court found the former police officer guilty of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

It is noted that prosecutors proved that during the occupation of Izium, the convict went over to the enemy. At the time, he held the position of a district police officer of the prevention sector of the Izium District Police Department of the Kharkiv Regional National Police.

The man voluntarily took up the position of "district police inspector" in the illegally created occupation body "Izium District Police Department of Kharkiv Region".

The pseudo-law enforcement officer was on duty as part of investigative teams, kept materials in the unified accounting journals, and ensured "public order" for the occupation authorities. In addition, he agitated his colleagues to swear allegiance to the aggressor state and work in the pseudo-law enforcement agency.

"Later, he became a 'senior district police commissioner of the police department of district police commissioners for minors of the Police Department No. 2 (deployment in Izium)' in the so-called 'Department of Internal Affairs of the Provisional Civil Administration of Kharkiv Region'," the statement said.

The PGO added that after the release of Izium, the man was hiding from justice.
