Occupied Crimea remains the territory of Ukraine, - Trudeau

On the 10th anniversary of Russia’s pseudo-referendum to "legalise" the occupation of Crimea, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Ottawa had not and would not recognise the annexation of the peninsula.

According to Censor.NET, citing European Pravda, this is stated in Trudeau's statement, which was distributed by the press service of the Canadian government.

Trudeau stressed that Russia's hybrid invasion of Crimea was more than an aggression against Ukraine, as the Kremlin called into question the international legal order by these actions. He also reminded that after the occupation, massive repressions against all disloyal people, including Crimean Tatars, began on the peninsula.

"Today is a reminder that Russia's war against Ukraine did not begin on 24 February 2022, but ten years ago. While Putin is once again trying to redraw the map as he sees fit, our position remains unequivocally clear: the territory of Ukraine will remain the territory of Ukraine, and we will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary," Trudeau said.

The Prime Minister also recalled Canada's financial and military assistance, sanctions and diplomatic support for Ukraine over the years.

He concluded his statement with the slogan "Glory to Ukraine".
