Ambassador Melnyk: High-ranking officials in Brazil avoid talking about our war

Ukraine’s ambassador to Brazil, Andriy Melnyk, said that high-ranking officials in Brazil avoid the topic of the Russian invasion because of their so-called neutral position.
According to Censor.NET, Melnyk said this in an interview with Radio NV.
The ambassador also noted that for him the situation in Brazil is "ten times more difficult" than when he worked in Germany before Russia's full-scale invasion and in the first months after it began.
"I sometimes get the impression that people here live on another planet. No one wants to talk about the war, and this is a rather sad fact. That is, if you go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hold meetings with parliamentarians, the topic of war is simply avoided because it is inconvenient, because there is nothing to answer, people are embarrassed by the official so-called neutral position on Russian aggression against Ukraine," Melnyk explained.
He also emphasized that after the three-day visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, who declared his intention to sway Brazil to Ukraine's side, Brazilian President Lula da Silva noted that Brazilians do not have "the same nervousness as in France, because we are many thousands of kilometers away from this war."
The ambassador stated that Ukraine is "completely alone" in the context of its activities in Latin America, and that its Western partners are not making active efforts to truly convince Brazil to change its course.
