Germany is using all levers to help Ukraine - Baerbock
Germany is doing everything it can to provide as sistance to Ukraine - with weapons, ammunition, finance and in the humanitarian aspect.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said this before the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"We must continue to support Ukraine with everything we have, because it defends our freedom, our democracy and our peace," Burbock said.
The diplomat assured that Germany and its Chancellor are using all possible levers to help Ukraine, in particular, to provide ammunition: Berlin allocates funds and expands production on its territory.
Baerbock announced a new figure for military and civilian aid provided and promised to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war - 32 billion euros.
The Russian war is forcing the allies to strengthen their own security as well, Baerbock said. This year, for the first time, Germany will spend 2.1% of GDP on defence, the Foreign Minister said.
She mentioned the German brigade in Lithuania as another contribution to the strength of the Alliance. Countries in the immediate neighbourhood of Russia need special security guarantees, Baerbock added. She noted that these countries perceive threats in a completely different way. The minister stressed that NATO will defend every inch of its territory.
